In the heart of a quiet, upscale suburb, nestled amidst the manicured lawns and stately homes, there lay a pristine golf course known as “The Royal Fairways.” It was a place where the well-heeled residents came to relax, challenge their friends, and enjoy the tranquility of the game. Yet, this story is not about any typical golfer; it’s about a man named Harold Higgins, better known as “Crazy Harold.”
Harold was anything but ordinary. He had a reputation for eccentricity that stretched far beyond the golf course. He wore mismatched socks, sported a tie-dye hat, and had a beard that resembled a tangle of vines. He was infamous for his wild antics on the golf course, often talking to his golf balls, giving them names, and performing elaborate victory dances when he made a putt. Most players considered him a sideshow, a nuisance to their serene golfing experience.
One sunny afternoon, Crazy Harold was on the 9th hole, struggling to keep his ball on the fairway. He let out a frustrated yell as his ball veered dangerously close to the water hazard. But then, something extraordinary happened. A voice, soft as a whisper but commanding as thunder, boomed from the sky.
“Harold Higgins,” it said, “I have watched your antics with great amusement.”
Startled and looking around, Harold couldn’t locate the source of the voice. “Who’s there?” he shouted.
“I am the one you seek,” the voice replied. “I am God.”
Harold blinked, convinced he was hearing things. He muttered to himself, “God? Seriously? You couldn’t have picked a better time?”
The voice continued, “Harold, I’ve watched your passion for this game, your unbridled joy in every swing and dance. You remind me of the childlike wonder that is often forgotten in the world.”
Crazy Harold, still bewildered, asked, “So, you’re God, and you’re watching me play golf?”
“Yes, and I’m impressed by your unique approach to the game,” God replied. “But remember, golf is just a game. Life is what truly matters. Find that same zest for living beyond this golf course, and you’ll discover a world of endless wonders.”
With that, the voice faded away, leaving Harold standing on the 9th hole, utterly flabbergasted. He scratched his head, trying to make sense of the encounter. As he finished the round, he couldn’t shake the feeling that maybe, just maybe, he had met God on that golf course.
From that day forward, Crazy Harold’s life took a dramatic turn. He channeled his eccentric energy into charity work, bringing joy to those in need, and reminding everyone he met about the importance of living life to the fullest. The golf course remained his playground, but now it was also a place where he spread a message of love and gratitude, believing that he had truly met God and had been given a divine purpose to share his zest for life with the world.
Let’s hope the viral video of the man we all saw this past week losing his mind on the golf course gets some help and takes a turn for the better 🙂
Yours truly, Socially Out Of Bounds (SOB)
